"THIS SPECTACULAR TERRAIN INSPIRES A VAST AND DIVERSE SKI AREA THAT WILL BE THE CENTERPIECE FOR WHAT WILL BE ONE OF THE FINEST FOUR-SEASON RESORTS EVER CONSTRUCTED."
LES OTTEN, BALSAMS DEVELOPMENT TEAM
It is one thing to envision a world class ski resort, and another to build one. The Balsams ski expansion is an ambitious and inspired design, made even more exciting by the team that has been assembled to turn it into a reality. With over 120 years of collective resort development experience, and icons like Sunday River and the Canyons to their credit, our team is more than up to the task. We have already begun the design and planning phase of the project and are poised to begin construction this year. Watch a clip of what this expansion will look like.
With a base at 1,865 feet above sea level, The Balsams has been called one of nature’s most glorious balconies. Due to its location in a true alpine climate zone, avid skiers and riders will experience more dependable snow and a longer winter season year in and year out. With 2,200 skiable acres of alpine terrain, one of the largest vertical drops, and 100 km of Nordic trails, The Balsams will be larger and more varied than any other resort in the east at full build-out.
With an epic annual snowfall and 2,200 acres of skiing across 3,800 acres of pristine forest, including a 400+ acre Balsam Glade in Hodge Valley, skiing at The Balsams will offer a new challenge every day. Along with the expanded terrain, the new expansion will include the highest capacity gondola and the largest snowmaking water source in the East, assuring best-in-class quality snow.
Upon finish, The Balsams will be the largest and most technically advanced ski resort on the East Coast.
