“Over recent weeks news has been coming from Dixville Notch regarding changes in the plan – now over a decade in the making – to restore life to one of the past gems of the North Country, the Balsams Hotel…Almost lost in the sudden news has been a name: Annmarie Turcotte. She was mentioned in the press releases as a new investor in the project. The Chronicle was curious as to her role in the project and asked for – and received – a chance to meet with her and Otten in Dixville Notch last week. Otten remains committed to Balsams, seeks new investors

“DIXVILLE – Balsams Resort developer Les Otten told the Coos County Planning Board that Dixville Capital LLC has spent more than $11 million on the project to restore the former ski and vacation resort.

That money has gone to permitting, architectural design, project engineering, legal fees and an extensive sales and marketing effort.  The figure does not include land acquisition costs…”

The Dixville Notch midnight voting tradition almost didn’t happen

February 7, 2020

Mary Newman from Politico recently visited and interviewed both Les Otten (Owner and Developer) and Tom Tillotson (Town Moderator) in the Ballot Room. “The original ballot box, the voting in Dixville Notch signs will all be here, albeit five of us voting,” Otten said. “The tradition will go on pretty much the same way it has since every presidential primary and presidential election since 1960.” Watch the full interview and video by Politico.

Senate Passes ‘Balsams Bill’ and Sununu Says He’ll Sign It

“CONCORD – Developer Les Otten’s vision for creating the crown jewel of resort hotels with the largest ski area in the Northeast at the Balsams got another major boost Thursday, this time from the state Senate.

The Senate approved House Bill 540 that will help Otten seek the funding he needs for the $173 million redevelopment of the Balsams in Dixville Notch.”
