Your Next Chapter | The Balsams Resort
11.000 Acres to Explore.
It’s a spectacular mix of mountains, forests, fields, lakes, and streams – and with over 5,500 acres in permanent conservation, we plan to keep it that way. Spend the afternoon exploring 100km of trails or simply reading a book at Moose Lake with your back to an old-growth Balsams Fir. The Balsams lets you disconnect from everyday pressures, and re-connect with nature, family, and friends.

The Balsams Resort Experience

Ditch Your Car.
Once you’re here, your car is.. well, unnecessary. Give your keys to the valet and enjoy a walking campus unique to The Balsams. Take a luxurious shuttle to golf, or load your mountain bike onto the gondola. We’ve designed the center of the resort around Lake Gloriette so you only get in the car when it’s time to leave. Hop in a canoe for a float or learn new skills in a professional cooking class – it’s all at your doorstep.
Four Seasons. Re-Imagined.
This place has history (nearly 150 years’ worth). With a bold ski expansion and the creation of the Balsams Baths, every season brings its own unique attractions. World-class golf and skiing. The tender return of spring, the bracing beauty of autumn. From locally roasted coffee at the Marketplace to sunrise yoga on the Great Lawn. From farm-to-table dining to a cold plunge after the sauna. We took tradition, and reimagined it for the next century.

Take a Tour of our Ski Expansion

A Wilderness Ski Experience.
The gondola whisks you away from the shores of Lake Gloriette and delivers you to a wilderness ski experience unlike any other in the east. Explore more than 20 feet of annual snowfall without the crowds. Beginners can practice their first turns in gentle Cascades Basin; advanced skiers can plunge into 500 acres of untracked glades in Hodge Valley. At the end of the day, ski back over the Lake Gloriette suspension bridge as sunset reflects off the notch.
