THE BALSAMS
APPLE CORNBREAD STUFFING WITH WALNUTS
INGREDIENTS
(Serves 8-10)
- 9×13″ pan of Cornbread, cooled and cut into 3/4″ pieces
- 1/4 pound Butter
- 4 medium Apples, large dice
- 1 1/4 cup Walnuts, halved and toasted
- 2-3 sticks of Celery, diced
- 1/2 cup Onion, diced
- 1/3 tsp of Thyme
- 1 pinch of Salt
- 3/4 cup Apple Juice
- 3/4 cup Apple Cider
DIRECTIONS
- Sauté the Onion and Celery in Butter
- Once soft, add the Cornbread, Apples, and Walnuts
- Add the Apple Juice and Apple Cider to moisten – use less if you prefer a dry stuffing
- Season with Thyme and Salt
- Stuff into turkey
- Spread the mixture evenly in a baking dish
- Bake uncovered until the top is golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes
- Remove to a wire rack and let cool for at least 5 minutes before serving
