While The Balsams resort is not open to the public, we offer exclusive rental of the property including our 1912 Donald Ross clubhouse venue atop our 360 degree view Panorama Ross course. We also have three private residences on the property which can sleep a wedding party of up to 36 people. We are currently booking exclusive weddings from 50-150 people. IT’S YOUR SEASON

From springtime’s fresh breezes to crisp peak foliage, The Balsams property offers a private world of seclusion for you and your wedding party.

No matter where you look, the views and photo opportunities are one-of-a-kind.

While on-site, not only will you have the entire resort to yourself, you will also have private access to our 18-hole Signature Donald Ross Panorama golf course. It is currently a walking course, with breathtaking views through New Hampshire and into Vermont and Canada – and this is just the beginning.

The property consists of 7,000 acres that you have to yourselves to appreciate the serenity of nature. While relaxing on the property, you’ll have access to miles of private hiking, biking, or walking trails along with three remote lakes to kayak, canoe, fish, or swim in. Or, you can simply take in the stunning views around.

While preparing for your celebration, you can lounge in solitude by a lake, experience birding, fish for native trout, read a book, enjoy a quiet lakeside campfire with storytelling and s’mores during the evening, or let the hummingbirds and loons entertain you. If you prefer to watch wildlife from the comfort of your vehicle, there are several roads throughout the property, two to three miles long and passable if you have an SUV.

The above amenities and use of the entire property are all included within your wedding stay.

RELAX IN LUXURY IN THE RESIDENCES

The property holds three historic homes which have hosted the households of prior owners of The Balsams property and resort. Each of these private locations has its own charm, place in time, and unique features. All three are open to the wedding party to sleep up to 36 people to offer a tranquil refuge during your wedding weekend.

The Tillotson House is nestled amongst cedar hedgerows and lies on the shore of Lake Gloriette. The home comfortably sleeps 14 with ample space for entertaining and relaxing. From this private home, you can look across the glistening lake and take in the grandeur of the cliffs of Dixville Notch rising 1200′ above the lake’s surface.

Across the lake, our rustic Hale House is a beautiful lodge and offers seven bedrooms, six- and one-half baths, and an enclosed porch overlooking the lake perfect for morning coffee and dining while watching the sunset reflect off the cliffs hung opposite the lake. Hale House sleeps 12 with ease.

Captains Cottage, once the residence of Captain Frank Doudera, a prior Balsams owner and Red Sox owner, is snug against the base of Mount Abenaki. The home sleeps 10 and is a quiet refuge with beautiful sunset views down the Monadnock River valley.

These homes are a precious part of The Balsams past; we hope to welcome you and your wedding party to Dixville Notch with all of the hospitality that this setting has long been renowned for. Hale and Tillotson Houses are available for whole-home rentals separate from wedding events also; please inquire with us for more information.

THE HISTORY OF THE LOCATION

The first guests were welcomed to Dixville 150 years ago. Although much has changed since the days of a 25-room inn, the legacy of this elegant resort and its storied grounds remains constant. The Balsams is being reborn as an all-season, luxury resort for the 21st century – and beyond.

The Balsams has long held a passion and dedication to exemplary service and all things refined. 150 years later, our vision is to preserve the natural wonders that originally drew people every summer: resplendent mountains, breathtaking lakes, expansive views, sparkling clean air, and the freshest of drinking water. With over half of the sprawling wilderness in permanent conservation, we plan to preserve this legendary property as a tradition for generations to come.

ICONIC SCENES, TIMELESS SETTINGS

Your wedding photos may be taken in any of several breathtaking locations on the property. We are happy to assist you in determining the perfect locations for the photos you’re dreaming of – locations you will only find at The Balsams.

Some of the most memorable locations to discuss with your wedding planner include: the Panorama clubhouse at the Donald Ross golf course which overlooks Vermont and Canada from the deck (where your wedding dinner will be served), the Great Lawn looking across at Dixville Notch, and the lawns in front of Hale and Tillotson Houses which are lakeside and facing the opposing cliffs.

Prior to your wedding dinner, you will have ample time to utilize for wedding photography while your guests enjoy hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails.
